My club manager played in Scotland with Rangers but refuses to speak English
CHE ADAMS has hit the ground running since joining Torino – and he gives much of the credit to the former Rangers hero who is his new club boss in Serie A.
That man is Italian full back Paolo Vanoli, who played for the Ibrox side during the reign of Alex McLeish.
But while the Scotland striker revealed yesterday that while most of his team-mates speak English, Vanoli only speaks in ITALIAN to the main group.
And he reckons it’s helping bringing his learning of the language on.
Speaking to former Football Italia host James Richardson, Adams said: “Most of the boys speak English to be honest, except the manager.”
Richardson replied: “So he played in Scotland but doesn’t speak English?”

Adams replied: “He can speak English but to the main group he only speaks Italian.
“It helps as well, hearing the words more consistently – it helps you pick words up slowly.”
Scottish footballers are very much in fashion in Italy, and becoming a striker at Torino, Adams has often been reminded of all-time Scottish football legend Denis Law‘s time at the club.
That and Rangers legend Graeme Souness, who was manager there for all of 98 days.
Adams said: “I’ve heard a lot about him and Graeme Souness – he was the manager for three months.
“They’re big on their history, obviously the tragedy which happened all those years ago. I’ve yet to go up the Superga but I will go up.
“It’s important to buy into the history.”
