Ronaldo, 39, has caused pandemonium since arriving in Scotland for the international match against Steve Clarke‘s side.

The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend grabbed headlines when he was spotted going down a flume at plush Scottish hotel Cameron House yesterday.

Fans went behind the scenes and caught a glimpse of the football icon acting like a big kid at the Loch Lomond venue.

And hundreds of supporters gathered outside and waited hours to see him and his Portugal team-mates depart the hotel for training last night.

It didn’t stop there either as many headed to St Mirren‘s SMiSA Stadium to meet the superstar and to try and get merchandise signed by him – and many were successful.

The frenzy around Ronado continued at Hampden as well as countless Scotland supporters could be seen holding up signs and tops to greet the footie legend during the match.

While one punter went one further and even tried to meet him on the pitch.

Viaplay cameras panned away from the moment but pictures show the supporter entering the field before darting towards Ronaldo with just minutes left in the match.

But he could only get so close to the 39-year-old as stewards quickly pounced and denied the supporter the opportunity to interact with the footballer.

It’s become a regular occurrence with Ronaldo in recent years as one punter was seen trying to hug the icon during Scotland’s first meeting with Portugal in Lisbon last month.

Portugal failed to maintain their perfect start to their Nations League campaign against Clarke’s side this time though as the match finished goalless at Hampden.

The visitors had most of the possession but they couldn’t find their breakthrough with Scotland’s backline standing firm throughput the 90 minutes.

Ronaldo himself had plenty of chances to break the deadlock but perhaps the biggest chances of the game came Scotland’s way.

Scott McTominay failed to test goalkeeper Diogo Costa with a dangerous header early in the first half.

The Napoli midfielder almost had another stunning chance late on when he was free in the box but Anthony Ralston couldn’t pick out the 27-year-old in the box.

It was a much-needed point for Scotland as it relieved some pressure off of head coach Clarke, but the Tartan Army still sit bottom of their League A group with just the singular point.
