Moment Cristiano Ronaldo is brutally trolled by Scotland hero live on air
CRISTIANO RONALDO had a night to forget as Portugal were held to a goalless draw by battling Scotland.
And one Scotland hero’s brutal quip at the great man’s expense left fans watching at home in stitches.
Ronaldo, 39, led the line for Portugal at Hampden last night.
But he went on to endure a rather frustrating night as a dogged Scotland backline kept him at bay in a 0-0 draw.
His temper boiled over at full time when the referee blew the final whistle prior to what would have been a Portugal corner being taken.
Visibly irate, Ronaldo stormed off the pitch while making all sorts of gestures.
That was much to the Tartan Army’s delight.
But long before his final whistle strop, Ronaldo endured another moment to forget during the game.
As half time approached, Bruno Fernandes nicked the ball off of Scott McTominay and immediately looked up for his frontman.
Seeing Ronaldo in space, Fernandes pinged a lovely floated pass right into the striker’s feet.
But something then happened that you rarely ever see – the legendary Ronaldo completely FAILED to control the ball.
The Tartan Army cheered as the stunned footie legend looked at the ground in disgust at what he’d just done.
It seemed a rather simple pass to control, but Ronaldo somehow managed to let the ball slip under his foot and it trundled away into safe possession for Scotland.
Commentator Andy Bargh quipped: “There’s a hole in his boot!”
He was joined in the commentary booth by former Celtic and Scotland star Charlie Mulgrew.
And the 44-times capped defender had a brilliant explanation for what Ronaldo had done.
Mulgrew hit out with: “Don’t often see that from Ronaldo, eh?
“Starting a motorbike!
“I did it plenty of times but you don’t see it from him.”
The ‘starting a motorbike’ quip left fans in stitches.
While it might not have been immediately clear, Mulgrew appeared to be pointing to the fact Ronaldo’s stance – with foot raised and the ball flying underneath – looked like he was trying to start up a motorbike.
Fans were absolutely loving the turn of phrase.
One said: “He was brilliant all night. A breath of fresh air in the commentary box.”
A second added: “I was cracking up!”
