Michael English hits debut century as Scotland crush Namibia

Michael English made a debut century as Scotland trounced Namibia by 138 runs to close a good 10 days at home in the World Cup League 2.

The 29-year-old opener hit nine fours and two sixes on his way to 107 from 122 balls.

He also put on a 171 partnership with captain Richie Berrington following the departures of Charlie Tear (16) and Brandon McMullen (15).

Berrington made 89 following his match-winning display against the same opponents last Saturday, while Chris Greaves finished on 31 not out as Scotland set an imposing total of 301-6.

Namibia were reduced to 9-3 after seven overs, with McMullen taking two of those wickets.

Brad Currie struck with his second delivery and added two more wickets, removing visiting skipper Gerhard Erasmus, who had reached 53.

Gavin Main matched that haul with three wickets as the Africans were all out at the start of their 41st over.

Scotland, the defending champions, now top of the table after winning three of their four matches at Forthill, Dundee, the first outing against Oman having been washed out by rain.

The Scots return to the competition in October, against United States and Nepal.
