McGinn, Robertson and Scotland make up O’Hara’s ‘worst XI of Euro 2024’ so far

Jamie O’Hara has named his worst XI of Euro 2024 so far – and it’s fair to say his England bias may have crept in.

Euro 2024 is now in full swing, with group stage match one of three coming to a close on Tuesday evening as Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal saw off the Czech Republic 2-1.

But it was the opening game that set the tempo for how action-packed this summer’s tournament will be, as Scotland were thumped 5-1 by hosts Germany last Friday.

It was a disappointing start for Steve Clarke’s side, with Ryan Porteous being sent off and their only consolation being Germany’s own goal, courtesy of ex-Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.

Scotland aren’t the only side to suffer a heavy defeat, with Ukraine being handed a 3-0 opening loss to Romania.

But when O’Hara was tasked with naming the tournament’s worst XI so far, he had his sights set on one country and one country only.

“I’ve gone for a 5-4-1,” he said on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar on Tuesday. “I’ve watched all the games and you know, I’ve come to the conclusion this is it.

“I’ve got Gunn in goal, Scotland, no. 1. I’ve got Andrew Robertson at left-back, who’s Scotland.

“I’ve got Kieran Tierney at centre-half, left-sided, who’s Scotland. I’ve got [Jack] Hendry in the middle of the park, centre-half, Scotland.

“I’ve got [Ryan] Porteous, who got sent off.”

At this point, his co-host Carlton Cole was starting to recognise a pattern…

A smiling O’Hara continued: “I’ve got [Anthony] Ralston, who plays right-back for Scotland. I’ve got John McGinn on the right in a 5-4-1 for Scotland.

Bob the Scottish ‘England fan’ leaves Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil in stitches over his surprising allegiance

“I’ve got Scott McTominay, no.4 for Scotland, in the middle of the park.  I’ve got [Callum] McGregor in there, no. 8. Bad game, bad game. Scotland.

“I’ve got [Ryan] Christie out on the left, not a good game he had for Scotland.

“And a controversial one again, a tough one to take, but I’m going to have to put him up there! Che Adams, no. 10 for Scotland.”
