A 52-year-old man was found injured inside the property and was rushed to hospital, where medics say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Armed response units were stood down and police sealed off several streets around the scene.

Cops reassured locals there was no risk to the wider public as they began probing the incident.

One resident said: “I was just sitting in the house when I saw all the blue lights.

“At first I thought it was an ambulance or something but when I came outside I saw the whole street closed off.

“It’s shocking, nothing like this ever happens around here.”

Worried residents exited their homes after seeing the police cordon.

Many seemed unaware of what had happened.

Some wandered up to the police line to try and get answers from the uniformed cops standing guard.

Detectives arrived on the scene and began photographing the area outside the row of shops.

Forensics then arrived and were seen entering the store and taking more photographs.

Other investigators went door to door and began speaking to people living near the shops.

Locals have been asked to avoid the area as the probe continues.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers remain in the Drumoyne Road area of Glasgow after receiving a report around 4pm of a firearm being discharged within a premises.

“Armed police initially attended the scene but have now been stood down.

“A 52-year-old man has been taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
