Legendary Scottish footie boss ‘heads to the pub’ after Euro flop v Germany
DICK Campbell was among the Tartan Army fans taking the edge of the opening day disappointment with a refreshment or two in Marienplatz.
The legendary footie gaffer, now in charge of East Fife, was with son Paul and grandson Max as they reflected on the nightmare result against Germany.
Dick, 70, has had more than his fair share of success during an incredible career but also knows what it’s like to bounce back from morale-sapping results.
He said: “We’ve been here that many times but last night would have been a sickener for the manager, Steve Clarke.
“And the reports I’m hearing about the game plan is nothing happened there.
“We didn’t lay a glove on them and we looked as if we were way of it. If you were giving the players marke out of ten you would be struggling to give them five or six.

“We’ve got a great habit of fighting back but last night I felt so sorry for all the fans because we gave them nothing to shout about.
“Listen, I’ve been there 100 times when you expect a team to do something and they don’t do it.
“Germany were outstanding and our big players, McGinn, McGregor, McTominay, we need them to play and we never got them in the game at all.
“I’m absolutely gutted like every Scottish fan. I’m disappointed for Stevie Clarke and all the players. They’ll be absolutely gutted this morning.”
Son Paul, 44, added: “We are flying back tonight but this afternoon we will visit a few sights.
“It’s a beautiful place and the Germans have been brilliant.”
Dick revealed the trip was a gift for his grandson who was thrilled to see the Scots play at such a massive occasion.
Max, 15, said: “The Allianz Arena is a brilliant stadium and it was an amazing atmosphere but obviously I’m gutted about the result.”
Dick, famed for his love of a glass of French wine, added: “It is what it is. I’m going to the pub and I’ll be on the Chateauneuf du Pape.”
