King Charles to open Balmoral Castle as exclusive wedding venue – Scottish Business News
Balmoral Castle, the historic Scottish estate of the British Royal Family, is set to become an exclusive wedding venue under King Charles III.
The “Queen’s Building,” near the main castle, will host weddings and events, accommodating up to 277 guests indoors and 144 outdoors.
This move marks a shift in the estate’s traditional use as a private royal retreat. To facilitate these events, Balmoral has applied for licenses from Aberdeenshire Council to sell alcohol and play music, essential for wedding celebrations.
Given its remote location, the estate argues that typical urban noise restrictions should not apply, ensuring minimal disturbance.
This initiative is part of King Charles’ broader strategy to make Balmoral more accessible to the public, aligning with recent efforts to increase public engagement with royal properties.
Hosting weddings at Balmoral offers a unique opportunity for couples to celebrate in a setting rich with royal heritage.
