International round-up: Raiders feature for Wales, Jamaica and Scotland | Barrow Raiders

Four Barrow Raiders players had the opportunity to represent their respective nations over the last two weeks.

Max Clarke earned his first caps for Wales as they kicked off their autumn internationals with a 22-16 victory over Jamaica at Neath’s Lextan Gnoll.

With the score tied at 10-10, Clarke raced over in the corner to score his first international try.

Jamaica’s squad included Delaine Gittens-Bedward, who also featured for the first time on the international stage for the Reggae Warriors.

Clarke went on to earn a place in Wales’ 20-man squad ahead of their Rugby League World Cup qualifiers in France.

He started the Dragons’ 48-0 win over Serbia but missed the subsequent defeat to France in Perpignan – a result which ended their World Cup qualification hopes.

On Sunday, a Scotland side featuring Charlie Emslie and Brett Carter fell to a 36-6 friendly defeat to Ireland in Gateshead.

It was the Bravehearts’ first international fixture since the last World Cup, with Emslie featuring off the bench against Fiji at that tournament.

Carter, meanwhile, was making his first international appearance for over a decade. He previously lined up against Tonga and Italy at the 2013 World Cup and helped his country to a famous 26-24 victory over the former.
