Host of Hollywood celebrities pictured at Scottish golf course

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at Carnoustie teed off on Thursday with 168 professional golfers playing alongside 168 celebrities and amateurs over the first three rounds.

Each group of golfers will take on a different course per round before a cut on Saturday evening.

Then, the finalists will head on down to the Old Course in St Andrews on Sunday for the final round, where the individual and team champions will be crowned.

Some of the big-name stars spotted trying their best to tackle the course include actor Bill Murray who is famously in Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day, and the leading man in the 1987 classic Fatal Attraction, Michael Douglas.

The pair are notably passionate golfers and will be hoping to put on a good show.

Michael Douglas  (Image: PA)Another top golfer who is no stranger to the big screen and is playing in the tournament is Kathryn Newton.

Best known for her variety of roles in TV and film the actress is also a semi-professional golfer.

Kathryn Newton  (Image: PA)The east coast course is hosting no end to Holyrood royalty as Andy Garcia was also pictured teeing off on Thursday.

Other big names attending the tournament include Linkin Parks Dave Farrell, American singer Huey Lewis and Welsh footballer Gareth Bale.

Alongside the armatures and celebrities, some of golf’s biggest names like Rory McIlroy and Louis Oosthuizen are also taking part.
