German TV presenter forced to look away after being trolled by kilt-wearing fan

A German TV presenter was given more than he bargained for from one Scotland fan ahead of Euro 2024’s opening match.

Scotland kick off the tournament on Friday night with a glamour clash against host nation Germany in Munich, live on talkSPORT.

Both sides come into the tournament unbeaten after their two tune-up games ahead of Friday’s opener.

And both know a win will put them in a commanding position to qualify for the knockout rounds ahead of fixtures against Group A’s other representatives Hungary and Switzerland.

Anticipation continues to build in Germany for the start of Euro 2024 but things took a bizarre turn for broadcaster Steffen Schwarzkopf.

The presenter was reporting live from Munich in hope of capturing the build-up to Scotland’s clash with Germany for German broadcaster Welt. 

During his broadcast he was joined by a group of cheerful Scotland fans enjoying their time in the German city with a beer in hand.

The fans shared some chants for the viewing public and even planted a sticker on Schwarzkopf before things turned awkward for him.

One of the fans then proceeds to lift up the kilt of another fan, bearing all to a stunned Schwarzkopf.

The fan in question was wearing a Germany shirt which appeared to confuse the peculiar situation even more.

The camera quickly panned away from the supporter and onto Schwarzkopf who had to somehow change the course of the broadcast.

Covering his face in embarrassment, Schwarzkopf told the camera: “Really, really traditional, I would say. I’m not just talking about their football jerseys, but naturally also about the Scottish skirts, the kilts, that are worn here.

“They are part of it. What is surely also part of it is the beer.

“But what I also see relatively often – I won’t necessarily wear this to the game tomorrow [pointing to the sticker] – what I also see and think is quite pretty is the Germany jersey on top and the Scottish kilt on the bottom.”
