German football fans start petition for an annual friendly against Scotland

SCOTLAND fell to a 5-1 defeat to Germany in the opening night of the Euros as the nations went toe-to-toe.

But fast forward a week later and both countries have developed a blossoming relationship, with German city chiefs even set to present Scotland an award due to their fans’ great behaviour.

And now the love between the two nations has grown even stronger after a petition was started to bring them both together EVERY YEAR.

Set up on petition website Change.org, a German resident named Max Kirchi has began to seek support for his idea which would see Germany host Scotland every summer during the break in club football.

The petition currently has 3, 527 signatures with just over 2, 000 people signing it in the past 12 hours.

The description attached to the page reveals why the idea has been put forward to German footballing chiefs.

It reads: “If you look at the pictures of the last few days in Germany, you realise the bond between the two countries and their fans.

Be it in Munich at the fan festivals, the past few days on the fan miles in Germany or simply in everyday life, this solidarity is surprising and testifies to mutual respect.

For this reason we suggest that the DFB organise a traditional annual friendly match during the summer international break which gives fans the opportunity to exchange ideas, go to pubs together and celebrate the friendship between the two countries.”

And fans were loving the idea as they took to social media to share their thoughts on the annual plan.

One fan said: “Someone has already suggested Scotoberfest.”

A German fan added: “Scotland has won so much sympathy beyond the pitch in the EURO 2024 in Germany that no matter how they perform in the stadiums they will always be in our hearts!”

One individual said: “Just signed it I’m not German not Scottish but I really enjoy seeing their bond.”

While a fourth fan added: “We will agree only if you guys calm down a bit. I mean 5-1 Jesus.”

Germany sit top of Group A after sealing their place in the next round while Scotland face Hungary this weekend with hopes of qualifying themselves.
