Genesis Scottish Open Favorites

With this event taking place in Scotland, one week before The Open Championship, this is the perfect time for players to get sharp and ready for the big event.

Rory McIlroy

All eyes will be on the Northen Irishman this weekend as he makes his return to action at the Scottish Open. After his downfall at the US Open, having let a strong lead slip, to eventual winner Bryson DeChambeau, McIlroy decided to take a break before heading into The Open Championship next week. Having taken the time off, he still goes into the weekend as the strong favorite to win the event.

Xander Schauffele

Winner of the PGA Championship this year, Xander Schauffele has finally got back to winning ways. He finished T7 at The US Open, and T8 at The Masters, however, across the board for most of the season, he has seen many top 5 finishes. Schauffele is also a strong favorite to win this event, just behind McIlroy, could he beat the Northern Irishman on his return to PGA golf?

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa has had a mixed season so far, and hasn’t really won too much. The American has seen some high place finishes across the year. Morikawa won the ZOZO Championship last October and will be looking to get a good four rounds in this weekend.

Ludig Åberg

One of golfs young and very talented prospects. The 24 year old Swede has taken the PGA by storm, with some seriously good golf at times this year. He had a rough patch finishing T12 at The US Open, and was Cut at the PGA Championship. Åberg gave Scottie Scheffler a run for his money at The US Masters in April, finishing second, with a 4th round score of -3.

Viktor Hovland

Hovland has played some pretty shoddy golf this year, having been Cut at The Masters, and The US Open, he will be looking to get into form ahead of The Open next week. He did however finish 3rd at the PGA Championship in May which could bring him some confidence going forward. The Norwegian is definitely one to look out for at the Genesis Scottish Open this weekend.
