GARY LINEKER has been called out by Scotland fans AGAIN after appearing to take a pop at Steve Clarke’s men live on TV.

And the Match of the Day presenter was even told by England legend Frank Lampard – “you didn’t have to say it!”

Former England striker Lineker, 63, was as usual in the hot seat for the BBC’s Euro 2024 coverage.

Anchoring the first Group A clash of the day between Germany and Hungary, he was joined by former England and Chelsea ace Lampard, ex-Arsenal star Alex Scott and Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

Germany led 1-0 at half-time through a Jamal Musiala strike but were certainly given a couple of scares by Hungary who took the game to the host nation.

In fact, they had a shot on target just 15 seconds into the match.

As half-time analysis turned to the Hungarians, Lineker brought up that early effort in discussion with the panel.

But he also mentioned Scotland in his assessment – and was immediately called out by Lampard for having a ‘dig’.

Lineker said: “They had a shot on target after 15 seconds, Scotland didn’t have one in their 90 minutes – I’m not having a dig at Scotland!”

Lampard, laughing, immediately hit back with: “You are!”

Lineker replied: “It’s a fact!”

Lampard then told him: “You didn’t have to say that!”

Lineker, doubling down, then added: “Own goals don’t count as shots on target – and it was a header but there you go.”

The panel laughed along with Lineker as the discussion then returned to Hungary’s exploits in Stuttgart.

The brief exchange didn’t go down well with Scotland fans watching on at home, and they took to social media to take Lineker to task.

One punter said: “I don’t think Gary Lineker is making any new Scottish fans today.”

A second commented: “Watching Germany v Hungary and he still wants to have a dig at Scotland.”

A third added: “You’re not funny son.”

A fourth said: “Stop taking the p*** out of Scotland. You are supposed to be the national broadcaster.”

A fifth added: “Gary Lineker putting the boot into Scotland at every opportunity.”

Another posted: “Gary Lineker and Frank Lampard laughing at Scotland.”

Lineker was also branded “disrespectful” by Scottish fans just yesterday after a comment aimed at Scotland boss Steve Clarke during an earlier Euro 2024 broadcast.
