Fund manager firm’s directors to share bumper £28m bonus pot

1. Staff at the fund manager Walter Scott & Partners shared in a £28 million bonus pot even though it booked a near 9 per cent dip in profit.

Annual accounts for the Edinburgh company, which employs more than 170 people, show its turnover edged up 0.2 per cent to £290.5 million last year. Higher expenses led the pre-tax profit to come in at £191.7 million, compared with £210.2 million in the previous year.

The value of long-term incentive payouts, which are based on performance over more than one year, was £28 million, up from £18.7 million in 2022.
