Former finance chief joins Scottish golf technology business

Earlier this year Shot Scope closed a £6.6 million funding round headed up by lead investor Guinness Ventures. In November its 38 members of staff moved into new, larger office premises.

“I am excited to join Shot Scope as chairman of the board – our innovative products are sold in over 160 countries and stocked by leading golf and sport retailers worldwide,” Lord Davies said. “I look forward to working with the team and shareholders to deliver our ambitious international growth plans and establish Shot Scope as a global brand within golf.”  

Raised and educated in Wales, Lord Davies first joined Standard Chartered in 1993 and served as chief executive between 2001 and 2006. He thereafter served as chairman until January 2009.

Awarded a CBE in 2002 for his services to the financial sector, he is currently chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association and international investment business LetterOne. He also sits on the executive committee of World Rugby.

Shot Scope has raised more than £18m in funding to date which includes support from Scottish Enterprise, which has provided £1.75m of innovation funding and £3.3m of investment into the company.
