Fears for steelworkers over Sanjeev Gupta prosecution

Gupta, who owns the multinational steel and energy group GFG Alliance, employs workers at two plants in Scotland, at Motherwell and Lochaber.

This week, Companies House said it was taking the tycoon to court for failing to file accounts for more than 70 companies listed in Britain.

Willie Rennie, the Scottish Liberal Democrats economy spokesman, said he was “concerned for the fate” of Gupta’s employees in Scotland. “For years, his businesses have juggled unfiled accounts, questionable Scottish government deals and Serious Fraud Office probes.
