Fans were shouting at their TV screens after spotting who was in crowd during Scotland vs Switzerland game

A familiar face from one of this year’s most-watched shows was spotted in the Cologne crowd during Wednesday night’s Euro 2024 clash between Scotland and Switzerland.

Scotland secured their first point of this summer’s tournament inside the 50,000 capacity stadium as Scott McTominay‘s deflected effort cancelled out a first-half screamer from Xherdan Shaqiri.

Steve Clarke’s side face Hungary next knowing that a victory is required to secure a place in the European Championship knockout stage for the first time in their history.

The likes of Andy Robertson and John McGinn will need the support of those who have travelled to Germany and so far, the Tartan Army have been nothing short of remarkable.

Thousands of Scotland fans descended on Cologne for the second game in Group A, including Baby Reindeer star Richard Gadd, who made an appearance on BBC’s coverage as seen below.

Gadd, from north-east Fife, starred in one of Netflix’s most popular series of all time, Baby Reindeer – a show that has picked up more than 84.5 million views since its official release April 11.

And on Wednesday night, he made the trip to Cologne to support Scotland.

As you can imagine, fans were quick to react after Gadd made a surprise appearance on our screens.

One said: “Swear I just saw Richard Gadd on the Scotland v Switzerland game?” while another commented: “Is it just me or was that Richard Gadd in the crowd?”

A third wrote: “They just showed Richard Gadd in the Scotland end. Sent from my iphon.”

A fourth said: “Omg I saw him too. I thought I was crazy,” and a fifth added: “My eyes hadn’t deceived me.”

As well as supporting his country, Gadd is a big Dundee United fan.

After they secured their place in the Scottish Premiership at the first time of asking last season, he opened up about their promotion.

“Just wanted to say a massive congratulations to the entire squad and Jim Goodwin for gaining promotion back to the Premiership this season and for winning the Championship,” he said.

“It was tense at times, you almost messed it up, but I’m very proud to say we’re back where we belong in the top tier of Scottish football.

“So congratulations to the squad, to Jim Goodwin to all the staff, the fans and the amazing club for an incredible victory this season and for winning the Championship.

“I look forward to doing it again in two years time! No, I’m only joking! Congratulations boys.”
