Euro 2024 organisers: We can cope with Tartan Army numbers

The organisers of Euro 2024 facilities in Stuttgart insist there is enough capacity to hold the number of Scotland fans expected in the city.

About 50,000 members of the Tartan Army – most of them without match tickets – are expected to arrive before Sunday’s crucial final group game against Hungary.

The match will not be broadcast on free-to-air television in Germany and the Germany-Switzerland match will be shown in the main fan zone in Stuttgart city centre.

However, event bosses say an additional viewing area will be set up for Scotland fans in the Stadtgarten, which could hold 25,000 fans.

They are confident that the extra fan zone, along with the capacity in bars and restaurants in the city, means everyone will be able to watch the game.

But they have advised fans to get to the viewing area early.

Event organiser Christian Eisenhardt told BBC Scotland News: “We are well prepared and we think we have enough capacity for the Scotland fans.

“We have been working every day for the past year on Euro 2024.

“We have five matches here in Stuttgart and we believe all fans will be able to watch the matches.”

He added: “We hope we have a good match on Sunday and that Scotland can go through to the next round.”

If Scotland beat Hungary on Sunday, it will take their group points tally to four.

That should be enough to see the national team move to the last 16 stage for the first time ever.

Scotland lost their first match against Euro 2024 hosts Germany 5-1, before drawing 1-1 with Switzerland.
