Dundonald Links Clinches ‘Scotland’s Best Golf Hotel’ For Second Year At 2024 World Golf Awards – Travel And Tour World
Wednesday, November 27, 2024
Dundonald Links triumphed once again at the 2024 World Golf Awards, earning the prestigious title of ‘Scotland’s Best Golf Hotel’ for the second consecutive year. The award was presented during an elegant black-tie gala in Funchal, Madeira, on November 22, adding to a growing list of accolades since the resort’s 2021 opening.
Designed with golfers in mind, Dundonald’s luxurious lodges offer an unmatched stay-and-play experience, featuring two, four, and six-bedroom units, all equipped with full self-catering amenities, ensuite bathrooms, and special touches like dedicated golf club storage, Sky Sports access, and private putting greens right outside the door. For those seeking a more intimate retreat, the resort’s comfortable rooms offer a premium hotel experience just steps away from Kyle Phillips’ renowned links course.
The resort’s reputation was further bolstered by the Canny Crow, a restaurant celebrated as one of the best in the region. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, the restaurant boasts a well-stocked bar, a whisky room, and panoramic views of the course, making it a sought-after dining destination.
A fixture in Scotland’s golf scene since Phillips revamped the course in the early 2000s, Dundonald Links soared to new heights after its acquisition by Darwin Escapes in 2019. The resort’s first official accommodations, along with the clubhouse and Canny Crow, were unveiled in 2021, setting the stage for the resort’s first World Golf Award win as ‘Scotland’s Best Golf Hotel’ in 2023.
Ashley Pheasant, head of golf for Darwin Escapes, said: “In a category with so many incredible candidates it’s an honour for us to be named the best hotel in Scottish golf again.
“As well as being popular with golfers who come to play our course, we have found that many players like to base themselves in our lodges or rooms while they take on other exceptional golf courses in the wider Ayrshire area, which is very pleasing to see.”
Dundonald Links has enjoyed another remarkable year, having hosted the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open for the third consecutive season, along with serving as the venue for Final Qualifying for The Open Championship.
