Danilo at centre of bizarre fitness riddle as Gers delete video of him ‘limping’
RANGERS boss Philippe Clement was asked to clear up the confusion after the Ibrox side deleted a tweet showing Danilo appearing to limp onto the Hampden pitch before yesterday’s clash with Dynamo Kyiv.
The Brazilian striker has yet to feature for the Ibrox men this season, as he works to re-establish full fitness following a serious knee injury sustained in December.
That’s despite being named on the bench in recent matches – and Gers fans latched onto the video, showing him cheerfully walking onto the pitch albeit with an awkward gait, as evidence that the injury could be worse than first thought.
Asked about the video in his press conference after the defeat to Dynamo Kyiv, Clement sought to reassure fans – saying he “has always had that kind of walk”.
The inference is that he’s desperate to get him some competitive minutes on the pitch – and wanted him to play last night had the match unfolded differently.
The Ibrox men were down to ten after the unjust dismissal of Jefte.

Clement said: “Dani always had that kind of walk, look from the moment he came in.
“I have been watching him a long time. I wanted to get him to [Club] Brugges when he was at Ajax.
“When he was not playing there and he had that walk also.
“No one needs to worry about that.
“There’s nothing going on with him, today I wanted to put him in that was the idea then circumstances of the game were not there.
“People will see in the next couple of weeks that they don’t need to worry about him.
“He’s had seven months out so you need time to gain match fitness and then at the right moments to get these minutes.
“It also depends on the scenarios of the game.”
