Crosswind Developments plans to build 3,000 homes on former runway

The Elements development will include an 11-acre urban park

1. A project to build 3,000 homes on the site of a former runway at Edinburgh airport has been approved by planning officials.

The proposals for the Elements development in the west of the capital will be put before councillors for a final decision next week.

Crosswind Developments, which is behind the scheme, also plans to create a 4.5-hectare urban park, 5.6 miles of walking and cycling routes and 500,000 sq ft of commercial space.

David Kelman, project director at Crosswind, said: “Our vision is to create a sustainable, inclusive community that enhances West Edinburgh and benefits future generations.”
