Group A1 hasn’t started tremendously for Scotland, with those two defeats last month leaving Steve Clarke’s side bottom of League A1.

The Poland defeat was really disappointing, particularly having battled back from 2-0 down at half time to level the game in the second half before conceding a penalty with the final kick.

That was followed a few days later by a perhaps expected defeat in Portugal, though that too was nearly not quite after Scott McTominay’s early opener.

But Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo scored to send Scotland home with another defeat, though some more positives to take.

It’s a bit of a new-look squad this time around, with Che Adams back in and likely to lead the line after a strong start to the season with Torino.

Croatia beat Poland in their last outing in this group, though that did end a four-game winless run – which included a 2-1 defeat at Portugal.

The sides last met in a crucial final group stage game of Euro 2024, which Croatia ran out 3-1 winners at Hampden.
