Council makes pledge to ‘choose local’ – Aberdeen Business News

ABERDEENSHIRE Council has committed to enhancing the area’s economic growth by favoring local businesses whenever possible.

Council Leader Cllr Gillian Owen has endorsed the Scotland Loves Local Pledge on behalf of the council, vowing to give precedence to spending with local companies.

It states: “We will choose local, prioritising the people and businesses around us at every opportunity.”

Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP), the group leading Scotland Loves Local with backing from the Scottish Government, believes that billions could be injected into local economies if more people prioritise local buying.

This pledge was issued before the upcoming Scotland Loves Local Week (Aug 26 – Sept 1) – a week-long event celebrating the efforts to create communities ready for the future, supported by essential local backing.

Local businesses, politicians, and consumers are being encouraged to highlight the outstanding local companies on social media using the hashtags #ScotlandLovesLocal and #ChooseLocal.

The goal is for this initiative to inspire others to adopt similar practices, committing to support and invest in local businesses and services.
