Celtic v Rangers: Watch Old Firm Scottish Cup final at Hampden
It is a Scottish Cup final that could barely be more intriguingly poised.
Celtic versus Rangers – the two fiercest rivals in the Scottish game – facing each other with a double on the line for both clubs.
Brendan Rodgers’ side go into the game after clinching the Scottish Premiership that, in the spring, looked like heading to Ibrox.
Philippe Clement’s squad is battered and bruised as well as downhearted after missing out on the title, but know one big 90 minutes can land them the cup double.
Celtic’s title win was their 12th in 13 seasons and captain Callum McGregor can collect the 22nd major winners’ medal in his professional career if his side defends the trophy successfully.
The Scotland midfielder cannot even remember his last cup final defeat but the pain of losing continues to drive him to more success.
“The way that I’ve been brought up, the way that my football career has panned out so far, I’ve tried to maximise every opportunity that I’ve got and at the start of the season, I want to try and win everything that we’re in,” the 30-year-old said.
“When you lose one, then it hurts and that stays with you and throughout my career.”
Rangers counterpart James Tavernier says his side “need to take our moments” if they are to arrest a poor run of form against Celtic.
The Light Blues took just one point from four Old Firm Premiership games this season.
“We have prepared the best we can but I can say as much as I want in interviews – we have just got to do our talking on the pitch and make it happen,” said the right-back.
