Celtic Duo Surprisingly Drop Out Of Scotland Squad | Latest Celtic News
Celtic duo James Forrest and Greg Taylor have dropped out of the Scotland squad for upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Poland and Portugal.
The surprising news came out this morning, with the reasons for their call-offs currently unclear.
Injury could be a factor, and while that would be a concern for Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops, we await official confirmation from Steve Clarke or his assistant John Carver.
Taylor has been replaced in the squad by Sassuolo’s Josh Doig, but a new winger hasn’t been drafted in amidst Forrest’s absence.
Right-back Anthony Ralston now remains the sole Celtic representative in the team.
Callum McGregor retired from international duty last month and has coincidentally clicked into gear for his club ever since.
The midfielder has scored screamer after screamer so far this season, much to the bemusement of Clarke and the national team set-up.
He will undoubtedly be a big miss during the upcoming international break, but Clarke has freshened up the side with the likes of former Celtic academy kid Ben Doak and Vancouver Whitecaps skipper Ryan Gauld.
The Scots will aim to get off to a flyer in Nations League A group 1 and rid of the lingering disappointment that remains from the European Championships.
