BBC ALBA to broadcast Scotland World Rugby U20 Trophy matches – Scottish Rugby

The announcement comes ahead of the annual competition kicking off at the start of July in which seven teams from around the world will travel to Edinburgh to participate.

Scotland U20 – who were drawn in Pool A – will compete against Samoa, Hong Kong China and Japan. Pool B will see under-20 teams from Kenya, Netherlands, Uruguay and recently qualified USA compete for their spot in the play-offs.

All other matches throughout the tournament will be available to watch live on RugbyPass TV.

Lynsey McMillan, Scottish Rugby Head of Marketing, said: “It’s fantastic news that BBC ALBA will be showing the four Scotland U20 matches at next month’s World Rugby U20 Trophy in Edinburgh.

“This is an important tournament for the team as they look to try and win promotion, so it’s great that fans who can’t make it along to Hive Stadium will still be able to watch the matches live on a free-to-air channel.

“Thank you once again to the team at BBC ALBA for all their support of rugby in Scotland.”

Fiona MacKenzie, BBC ALBA commissioning editor, said: “The World Rugby U20 Trophy is set to be a gripping tournament, and we are bringing fans all the action across BBC ALBA and BBC iPlayer for the first time in its 16-year history.

“Our partnership with Scottish Rugby means viewers far and wide can watch the next generation of rugby talent make their international debuts over the four match days.”
