BAN captain seen crying after win v Scotland in Women’s T20 WC

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty was seen tearing up after the team secured their victory in the opening match of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Bangladesh won by 16 runs. This was the first win for Bangladesh in the marquee event.

The Bangladesh team set a decent target of 119/7 in their 20 overs of play. However, their bowling department kept Scotland on their toes and restricted them to 103/7.

As she celebrated her 100th T20I match, Joty shared how the team was exited and highlighted the importance of this win for both the team and Bangladeshi women’s cricket. She revealed that this win was a massive one as Bangladesh was initially planning to host the tournament but political distress led to the event being shifted to the UAE.

“A win after 10 years is very emotional. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” said Joty. “No matter how well we play, if we don’t win, it feels meaningless. This victory gives us momentum, and I feel it’s a step towards something bigger.“
