Cameron Green’s exceptional all-round performance played a pivotal role in Australia’s clean sweep of the three-match T20I series against Scotland on September 7. 

Cameron Green stars as Australia thrash Scotland in 3rd T20I

Cameron Green unbeaten 62 runs and 3 wickets were instrumental in securing a 6-wicket victory over Scotland in the third T20I. Australia won the toss and elected to field first, while also introducing Cooper Connolly to international cricket. The hosts made a promising start with O Hairs scoring 12 runs from 18 balls in 2.2 overs before being dismissed by Aaron Hardie. Brandon McMullen and George Munsey continued the momentum, ensuring Scotland surpassed 50 runs within the powerplay overs. Despite Munsey’s departure for 25 runs, Scotland had reached 56 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the end of the powerplay.

Despite McMullen’s impressive performance, Scotland’s middle-order struggled to provide adequate support, mirroring the overall trend of the series. McMullen, batting at number three, achieved his second consecutive half-century but faced a lack of support from the other end. He reached his fifty off 32 balls but continued to lose partners. McMullen was eventually dismissed for 56 runs off 39 balls, caught by Travis Head off Marcus Stoinis’ bowling.

Mark Watt contributed some valuable runs towards the end of the innings, but Australia’s disciplined bowling performance limited Scotland’s total to 150 runs. Chasing this target, Australia faced a challenging task.

Australia received a setback early in their chase when Jake Fraser-McGurk was dismissed for a second duck of the series, caught by Bradley Currie off a tight over from McMullen. Travis Head responded with a couple of boundaries, but Currie returned to dismiss him, leaving Australia struggling at 18 for 2 in 3.2 overs. Captain Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green formed a crucial partnership, counterattacking aggressively to put Australia back on track. They scored 61 runs in just 6 overs, with Marsh contributing 31 runs off 23 balls. Although Marsh was eventually dismissed by Jarvis, Green continued his impressive form. Tim David provided a valuable cameo of 25 runs off 14 balls. Green remained unbeaten on 62 runs off 39 balls, including 2 boundaries and 5 sixes. 

Australia’s next assignment will be the upcoming tour of England where they will play three T20Is and five ODIs respectively.
