Scotland’s ‘best holiday park’ to open SIXTH location
THE FAMILY owners of Scotland’s ‘best holiday park’ are set to open up a sixth location.
Wood Leisure Holiday Parks was founded in 1981 by husband and wife duo Colin and Margaret Wood, and now managed by the second generation.
They boast a host of bespoke caravan and lodges perfect for families, walkers and mini getaways.
The business has grown from a modest holiday park in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, to an expansive network with parks located throughout Scotland.
All five existing parks hold the prestigious five-star status.
The company has won numerous awards including the Scottish Family Business Award and Best Holiday Park in Scotland.
Their five current parks include Blairgowrie, Lomond Woods near Loch Lomond, Corriefodly on the edge of the Cairngorms, Deeside in Aberdeenshire, and Callander Woods near Stirling.
And the Wood family announced that they are adding a sixth location named Faskally Woods Holiday Park in Pitlochry.
The new park is expected to create 20 new job opportunities within the local community.
A key contributor to the family’s success has been its ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Numerous green initiatives have been introduced across the parks to allow for 100 per cent renewable energy operations.
These include the use of an electric fleet, installation of solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and a biomass heating system.
The seven-figure funding injection has been facilitated by Royal Bank of Scotland.
Rachel Wood, Director of Wood Leisure Holiday Park, said: “This expansion represents the continued drive and work of our family and for that I’m so proud.
“From humble beginnings, we have grown into a network of premier holiday parks, and the acquisition of Faskally allows us to offer further variety to our customer as well as providing our Wood Leisure standard of accommodation and customer service in a truly stunning area of Perthshire.
“The support from Royal Bank of Scotland has been instrumental in enabling us to take this exciting next step and we cannot wait to get Faskally up and running with the same sustainable focus and quality we’ve become known for.”
Jack Malcom, Relationship Manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, commented: “It has been a pleasure to support Wood Leisure Holiday Parks in its journey of growth and diversification. The Wood family exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit that we value at Royal Bank of Scotland.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact of their latest acquisition.”
