Launchpad Build, based in Los Angeles, has chosen a site in Edinburgh’s New Town for the expansion after considering a number of alternative locations in other destinations outside Scotland. The new base is expected to employ 24 staff who will work on developing Launchpad’s tools, which can reduce manufacturing production costs and improve productivity.
The move has been supported by a £2 million Scottish Enterprise grant.
Jon Quick, the Launchpad chief financial officer, said: “We see Scotland as our gateway to the UK, Europe and Middle East [and] Northern Africa.”
