Awkward moment Scotland fans can’t watch game inside Hampden

THE boys on the park got the job done for Scotland last night.

But the staff inside Hampden had a bit of bother setting up the live stream on the concourse – leaving fans unable to see the game.

Staff struggled to show the game on TVs inside the national stadium

John McGinn scored a late winner for Steve Clarke‘s men as they ran out 1-0 victors against Croatia.

The early exchanges were dominated by the visiting team however and at times, the Scotland defence was at panic stations.

And there was some consternation in the stands early on too, as the live stream of the game wasn’t able to be shown.

It’s customary at Hampden for the game to be shown on TV screens inside the ground so that when fans leave their seat to go to the toilet or for a snack or refreshment, they can still keep up to date with the action on the pitch.

However that wasn’t the case at the national stadium last night – at least for a while.

With the match not on a live TV channel and instead only being shown on YouTube, poor staff were left scrambling to get the stream up and running.

And come kick-off, it still hadn’t been sorted and it ended up missing around five minutes of the early action.

Bemused punters took pictures of the TV screens which showed a YouTube search screen rather than the game itself.

And plenty of supporters weren’t happy about the mix-up – which coincided with a delay to the stream on the Scotland national team;s own YouTube coverage of the match.

One fan wrote online: “Hampden TVs having to search for the game on YouTube – five minutes after kick-off.”

Lawrence Shankland looks UNHAPPY but he’s still Scotland’s most natural striker, say Bill Leckie & Robert Grieve

Another joked in response: “Did they try refreshing it, then turning it off and on again?”

However, the incident prompted some positive reactions from fans who think it’s a good idea to have the game on YouTube rather than a TV channel.

This supporter said: “Unpopular opinion but I am starting to think it’s quite handy having it on YouTube.”
