Motherwell: Fashion chief Kyrk Macmillan with Hertha Berlin links becomes chair

Fashion businessman Kyrk Macmillan, whose father-in-law is on the board of Hertha Berlin, has been appointed Motherwell Football Club’s new chairman.

Macmillan, originally from East Kilbride and started attending games with his father and grandfather 30 years ago, is chief executive of Scottish brand Bee Inspired and has worked on commercial projects in conjunction with English and Danish top-flight clubs.

He told the club website he already has a good working relationship with The Well Society fan ownership group.

“The Well Society elections and the publication of the vision document – ‘Our Club, Our Future’ – has shown that we have an incredibly skilled and energised community, and we must ensure we provide a platform and culture of unity, and which brings that to fruition,” he said.

Macmillan is joined on the executive board by digital marketing chief executive Greg Anderson and Professor Grant Jarvie, director of academy sport at the University of Edinburgh and who has worked with clubs like Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Philip Speedie, a programme manager in the Scottish financial sector and former stadium announcer, has been elected as chair of The Well Society.
