£148 million growth deal for Falkirk and Grangemouth

1. A growth deal for Falkirk and Grangemouth has been signed by UK and Scottish ministers.

More than £148 million worth of funding will be used to back 11 projects which are expected to create 1,660 jobs in the next decade.

Falkirk council is also involved in providing some of the finance which will support the creation of a new art park along the Forth and Clyde Canal as well as a £6 million arts centre. Some £20 million has been earmarked for sustainable manufacturing projects at Grangemouth including a pilot plant for using food waste and whisky by-products as feedstocks.
