ROSS County teenager Keira Syrjanen has been called up to the Scotland Under-17 squad for their upcoming friendly match against The Netherlands.

The Dingwall Academy pupil has been selected for the national squad for the second time in her career.

The match will take place at Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld on Thursday, November 14.

She was in the Scotland Under-17 squad for their European Qualifiers against Iceland and Northern Ireland last month.

She has also been nominated for the SportScotland Youth Player of the Year and Highlands and Islands League player of the year at the Scottish Women’s Football Awards.

Syrjanen starred for Ross County in their first ever game at the Global Energy Stadium yesterday, when they went down to a 3-2 defeat to Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic in the Scottish Cup second round.

It was record crowd for a women’s game in Dingwall as it was estimated 650 supporters watched the match on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to the Ross-shire Journal after the game, Syrjanen says she was proud to score on a historic occasion for the club.
