Hello and welcome to our daily digest of business, financial and economic news from around Scotland.
Grant Keenan, managing director of Keenan Recycling, with Maxine Mayhew, chief operating officer of Biffa collections and specialist services
1. Biffa has completed what is believed to be a multimillion-pound deal to buy a Scottish food waste specialist.
Keenan Recycling, founded in 2003 and based in Aberdeen, picks up about 56,000 tonnes of waste each year across Scotland, England and Wales.
It has a fleet of 80 vehicles, depots across the UK and a composting and biofuel facility in Aberdeen.
Grant Keenan, the managing director, said the company had been supported by the Business Growth Fund, which helped it to grow into one of the largest UK food waste operators.
No financial details of the deal were disclosed but all 140 staff are expected to transfer to Biffa.
