First successful gas discovery in UK North Sea this year

1. A well drilled by Deltic Energy, Dana Petroleum and Shell has made what is believed to be the first successful gas discovery in the UK’s North Sea territory this year.

The Selene prospect is said to have resources of 131 billion cubic feet of gas, meaning it has the potential to be commercially viable even with the tougher UK fiscal regime and energy profit levy.

Deltic said that it is unlikely that more drilling will be needed
