Crail Golfing Society, the highly rated 36-hole club situated on the famous Fife coastline, has been selected to stage the opening event of the 2025 Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour offering ambitious girls and women players a top challenge to kickstart the comprehensive schedule.
Up to 50 amateur players from across Scotland will visit Crail Golfing Society on April 1, as the standout Tour’s second season gets underway with an 18-hole individual stroke play event on the demanding Craighead Links.
“We are so pleased to be the first venue of the 2025 Tour and we’re really excited to showcase the Craighead Links to these dedicated golfers,” said Jane Green, Chair of Crail Golfing Society. “Crail has a proud history of supporting women’s golf, including our recent hosting of the AIG Women’s Open Final Qualifying, and we look to continue this in line with our commitments to the R&A Women in Golf Charter.”
Designed by acclaimed American architect Gil Hanse, the par-72 layout offers picturesque clifftop views with medieval walls coming into play throughout to provide a totally unique experience, as well as a true championship test. The Craighead Links has previously hosted several flagship national and international championships, including the Scottish Girls in 2012 and the British Seniors Women’s Championship in 2018.
Crail Golfing Society currently has over 320 women members and their commitment to promoting women’s participation in golf runs deep. Providing equal opportunities for women members through dedicated events, coaching programs and competitions along with strong representation on the Board of Directors and committee structure. By encouraging female golfers of all ages and abilities, Crail aims to inspire future generations and strengthen the presence of women in the sport.
“We’re thrilled to kickstart our 2025 calendar at Crail and add to the Society’s extensive history of supporting the women’s game,” said Alan Tait, founder of the Scottish Women’s Amateur Tour. “The Craighead Links is a superb layout for competitive golf and I’m certain it will prove one of the most interesting contests on the Tour.”

The top six players from both the scratch and nett order of merits will compete in a season finale at Cabot Highlands in September, while a selection of other venues on the schedule includes Fairmont St Andrews, Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club, Royal Dornoch and Murrayshall.
