STAR FOOTBALL PREVIEW Tues: Scotland v Portugal

Steve Clarke’s Scotland side will be looking to bounce back from four consecutive defeats when they face Portugal at Hampden Park on Tuesday evening, writes JOE CITRONE.

Despite drawing first blood against Croatia over the weekend through a Ryan Christie strike, Clarke’s side were unable to hold on with Zlatko Dalic’s men running out 2-1 winners with their goals coming from Igor Matanovic and Andrej Kramaric.

The reverse fixture between Portugal and Scotland, which took place just a little over a month ago, followed a similar story for the Tartan Army as they took the lead early on before their opponents took the ascendancy later in the match; the winning goal on that occasion coming from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Clarke will be desperate for his side to bounce back from those disappointments, but will surely know this side have a tough test on their hands against an excellent Portugal side, even with the added home advantage this time around.

On the other hand, Portugal have been in excellent form since being knocked out of EURO 2024 on penalties by France in July and will be looking to keep that going on Tuesday night.

In their most recent outing, they comfortably dispatched Poland by three goals to win with Bernando Silva and Ronaldo getting themselves on the scoresheet before a Jan Bednarek own-goal sealed the victory.

Although Scotland have been losing a slightly alarming amount of games recently, they do seem to know where the goal is, and that makes a bet of Portugal to win and both teams to score at 21/10 with starsports.bet tempting.
