IN the box is where the action is at a football ground.

And that couldn’t be truer for this corner of North Ayrshire.

Infact supporters from across BRITAIN have been captivated by the football fayre being served up at Buffs Park in Kilwinning.

Nothing to do with Kevin Kelly’s team as such as they ply their trade in the West of Scotland Football League‘s Greenversity First Division though.

They’ve had three wins and four draws from their opening nine league fixtures.

It’s not the penalty box that has grabbed the attention of supporters nationwide – it’s the foam takeaway box from the club’s food kiosk that’s been hailed.

And for it’s great value too.

A mouth-watering pre-match snack – for supporters and certainly not advisable for the players – was shared on social media by ‘Footy Food’ account dedicated to soccer scran from around the country.

And the Buffs certainly have the stuff according to more than 100 replies.

Some hadn’t even HEARD of the club – but the tasty toastie got a thumbs up from a whole new legion of fans.

And even more so at the price – with change from £5!

Pictured was a ‘Buffs special’ Haggis and Sausage toastie with a side of chips and peppercorn sauce.

The snack costs £4.50 and fans raved about the value: “Never heard of them… but that is a quality meal at a quality price… excellent.”

Another added: “I’ve not even heard of this football team, but I’m in”

A third reply on Facebook read: “Solid and an excellent innovation on the Scottish delicacy! A fair price too.”

“I’d eat a Haggis toastie just now mouth is watering…” wrote a fourth.

Another joked: “Lovely but I can already feel the heartburn after eating it.”

A sixth said: “That looks absolutely lethal.”

And the praise continued to rain in on the SEVENTH tier side: “WOW!! Looks absolutely fantastic good value as well, yes please.”

The Buffs are not in action this weekend and must wait another week to face Sauchie, away, in the South Challenge Cup. However the under-20s ARE playing against Auchinleck Talbot’s U20s – but it remains to be seen if the popular dish will be served up in KA13.

Their next home game is on November 2 when they host Glasgow United in the WOSFL.
