The units were previously occupied by Hugo Boss and Cafe Nero.

The store is expected to sell a range of fashion, jewellery and eyewear products.

Other high-end retailers on the street include Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors and Mulberry.

Adam Stone, UK retail director at Nuveen which operates the street, told The Herald: “This is the only standalone, so not concessionary, Gucci store in the UK outside of London, which we think is brilliant, and we think is testament not only to Multrees Walk but to Edinburgh.

“The evolution of the city and the client base here supports the notion that there is demand for quality high end shopping offers in Edinburgh.

“We are delighted, we worked a very long time to secure that deal, and it is amazing that we are finally here and seeing it open.

“Moving forward, our focus will be high end retail. We do get offers from retailers, some of which are financially very credible and strong offers but we don’t always look to move forward.”

In 2021, Gucci opened a jewellery and watch boutique in Glasgow’s Argyle Arcade.

Collections include the Grip and G-Timeless watches, Gucci Link to Love, Lion Head and GG Running jewellery.

It also features silver bling from the GG Maarmont and Interlocking G range.

It comes as a historic Scots clothing firm loved by celebs and royals announced it will be axing dozens of jobs.
