Nathan Ellis To Replace Ex-MI Bowler; Australia’s Playing XI For 2nd T20I Vs Scotland
Ellis could replace Riley Meredith [x]
Australia defeated Scotland in a one-sided contest in the first T20I on Wednesday. Scottish team were expected to provide some fight against a tough Aussie side, but they surrendered inside 10 overs, and will now fight for survival in the second T20I of the series.
Scotland posted a decent 154 on the board, after losing early wickets. However, the target turned out to be a cakewalk for the Australian team, led by Travis Head, as they chased it down inside 10 overs.
Interestingly, the Aussie side scored 113/1 inside their first 6 overs, and achieved the highest power-play score in T20I history, beating the previous best by South Africa. So, with the second T20I coming up on Friday, we take a look at Australia’s playing XI.
AUS Playing XI For 2nd T20I: Injured pacer to get his chance Vs Struggling Scotts
Australia’s top-6 is arguably the most explosive batting at the international level. With Travis Head and Jake Fraser-McGurk opening, they have two of the most dynamic partnership at the top.
Mitch Marsh, Josh Inglish, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David form a dangerous middle-order, capable of even breaching the 300-run mark in T20Is. Cameron Green will be the pace bowling all-rounder and the bowling core of Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, and Adam Zampa will remain the same.
However, expect one change in the second T20I from the Aussie side. If Nathan Ellis is fit, then he should replace struggling Riley Meredith in the playing XI. Ellis was ruled out of the first T20I due to a hamstring injury, but if the speedster is fit, then he has to slot into the side.
Meredith, conceded 34 runs in 4 overs in the first T20I, and was the subject of easy target from the Scottish batter, particularly George Munsey.
