Rangers’ Connor Barron gets first Scotland call-up

Rangers midfielder Connor Barron has received his first Scotland call-up.

The 22-year-old has been has been promoted from the Scotland Under-21s to a place in Steve Clarke’s set-up for the Nations League double-header with Poland and Portugal.

Barron joined Rangers following the expiry of his Aberdeen contract in the summer and has played in each of the Ibrox side’s first seven games this season.

His call-up comes after Che Adams, James Forrest, Robby McCrorie and Greg Taylor all dropped out.

Sassuolo left-back Josh Doig and Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken have been drafted in alongside Barron.

The midfielder will join clubmate John Souttar in Clarke’s squad.
