Scottish Rugby appoint performance consultant Nucifora

Scottish Rugby have appointed former IRFU performance director David Nucifora to an advisory basis for the next two years, starting in November.

Nucifora’s role at Murrayfield will be very similar to the role he had at Ireland – a job he held for a decade – and will see him oversee the creation of a professional pathway for emerging players.

It was announced last December that Nucifora would join Australian Rugby in a high performance role, and it is expected he will juggle both roles simultaneously.

The Australian has played a key part in Irish rugby’s dominance over the last 10 years – winning four Six Nations titles and two Grand Slams in that time.

The appointment is seen as a coup in rugby quarters, and comes eight months after the announcement that Jim Mallinder would leave his role as performance director at the SRU.

Nucifora, 62, will also help decide his successor when he leaves at the end of his two-year stint in 2026.
