Andy Murray immortalised in giant mural outside landmark venue in hero’s career

ANDY MURRAY has been immortalised in a massive mural at one of the most important places in the Scottish tennis star’s career.

Images show the finishing touches being put to a giant recreation of the Scottish tennis star next to the tennis club where he learned to play.

Born in Glasgow, Murray was raised in Dunblane and spent much of his formative years learning to play the game at the town’s tennis club.

He’s already got a gold postbox in the town in recognition of his 2012 London Olympics medal.

Mum Judy has also spent more than a decade attempting to crystallise her son’s achievements into the bricks and mortar of a nearby community tennis centre near the Kier roundabout on the A9.

And now this new mural will dominate the wall as visitors drive up to the club.

Images show the 20ft artwork of the Dunblane legend, who retired from the sport earlier this month, celebrating a winning moment with a characteristic roar and clenched fist.

The words ‘Warrior, Legend’ are written over the top.

Sandy Fleming, a coach at the club, called it a ‘stunning tribute to Andy.

He told LBC: “It is so instagrammable.

“It is one of the coolest pieces of art I think I’ve ever seen in Scotland – certainly in Dunblane.

“It’s just really different to anything I’ve seen before.”

First time I saw Andy Murray play he projectile vomited in front of me – I can’t believe I stuck around, says wife Kim

We told you how Murray threw an intimate retirement party for 30 close friends and family at his £5m mansion just one week after retiring from tennis.

Wimbledon legend Tim Henman was one of the lucky guests at the fancy bash at the Scots’ Surrey residence where he lives with his wife Kim and their four children.

Murray, 37, and doubles partner Dan Evans suffered defeat in the quarter-finals at the Olympics with the pair losing to Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul after an incredible run at Roland Garros.

The defeat brought an end to three-time Grand Slam champion Murray’s storied professional run.

Good pal Tim Henman, 49, has revealed Murray is at peace with his decision and dismissed the notion he may have regret after revealing he had partied with the sporting legend after he returned from France.
