Turkish-built ferry delayed until end of the year

1. Delivery of a ferry for the Scottish public fleet from a Turkish shipyard has been delayed until the end of the year.

The Isle of Islay is the first of four vessels being built at the Cemre shipyard in Turkey and had been due to arrive in Scotland in October.

Kevin Hobbs, chief executive of Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited, has written to MSPs to say there is a delay as a result of global supply chain issues.

He expects the vessel to be ready by the end of this year but cannot yet give an exact date.
