Blow for Scottish retailers as footfall declines

1. Scottish retail footfall dropped by 2.3 per cent year-on-year in July, continuing a gradual decline, according to figures from the Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC).
The results were described as “feeble” and a disappointment for retailers by David Lonsdale, director of the SRC.
Edinburgh had a modest footfall increase of 1.4 per cent, while Glasgow’s fell by 4.8 per cent. This comes after a very slight increase in total footfall in June of 0.2 per cent, which was the first sign of growth for eight months.
