Summerhall tenants campaign to save it from developers

1. More than 120 businesses and individuals at the Summerhall venue in Edinburgh have launched a campaign to preserve their artistic and entrepreneurial community.

The group, Made in Summerhall, welcomed a recent three-year lease extension for key performance areas. But they say it is home to numerous small businesses occupying about 60 per cent of the site, not just a public entertainment venue.

Summerhall was put on the market by Oesselmann Estate, with various options for redevelopment, including student flats, offices or a boutique hotel. Bids close on September 18.

The campaign highlights the diverse tenants of the site, including the brewer Barney’s Beer and the “tech unicorn” travel
