Scottish Super T10 called off without ICC support

The Scottish Super 10, scheduled for Aberdeen in August, has been cancelled, following a lack of support from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Former England batter Alex Hales and Afghanistan T20 captain Rashid Khan were among the names signed up for what was to be the inaugural event.

Six men’s franchises – Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth and Dundee – had been due to meet in 34 Ten10 matches from 16-31 August.

Two women’s teams were also expected to participate.

Event organiser Star333 sports confirmed to BBC Scotland News that the competition has been called off.

It is understood the ICC not sanctioning the competition is one of the key reasons for the cancellation.

This would have left some of the big names unable to play.

Star 333 hopes the event can go ahead in future years, due to a multi-year commitment from Cricket Scotland.

Cricket Scotland said it is “unable to comment on the Scottish Super 10”.
