Bristol City are keen to tie him down on a new long-term deal, but manager Liam Manning has admitted that the player doesn’t feel the same way.

Manning insists that Conway has been offered an “excellent” contract by the club to convince him to stay but they’ve yet to reach an agreement with the player.

And the striker has been trying to force a move since, leading his manager to take action.

Rumours began to swirl today that the the young striker had been demoted and forced to to train with the club’s under-21s side in a shock turn of events.

Manning was asked about the striker’s situation and confirmed that the rumours were true.

He explained that he is not interested in catering to players who aren’t fully committed to the club and is only focused on those who want to fight for a place in his team next season.

“Tommy has had a contract offer on the table, which is an excellent offer,” said Manning.

“This has been turned down, and not negotiated with the player expressing a desire to leave.

“The decision has been made for him to train with the U21s, with the focus wholly on players who are fully committed to what we are trying to achieve.

“We are hopeful of adding to our squad in the new future. It has been a positive few weeks with the squad and I am happy with how things are progressing.

“We are preparing for the pre-season friendlies, which will be a good test for the players.”

Celtic and Rangers have both been linked with the player this year, and he would be available for around just £300,000 in cross-border compensation if they held off until next year.

Wolves were also named as potential suitors, and it’s likely business will move fast in the coming weeks following this latest developments.
